On 14th February, 1902, a group of concerned citizens met in the hall of the Bombay Municipal Corporation. They had to decide how to best deploy the Victoria Memorial Fund – an amount of Rs. 253,800, collected through public contributions, to perpetuate the memory of Queen Victoria, Empress of India.
The group decided to use the Fund to set up The Victoria Memorial School for the Blind (VMSB).
Realising the dearth of facilities for visually impaired adults in Mumbai, The Victoria Memorial School for the Blind has set up excellent infrastructure and training programs.
A wide and exciting range of extra- curricular activities, gives our students the chance to enjoy their childhood to the hilt. And often, a childhood passion turns into a true vocation for some students, opening up an avenue for a productive, satisfying life.
Green lawns. Historic charm. Modern facilities.
The ideal venue for your next conference
Plan your next conference or workshop in a venue that blends the grandeur of a bygone era with contemporary comfort – the Victoria Memorial School for the Blind offers 3 spacious, air-conditioned conference rooms, developed and well maintained by the Standard Chartered Bank. As companies like Raychem RPG, Tata Starbucks, Onward Technologies and many others have discovered, there’s nothing quite like a meeting of minds within the unique ambience of a heritage building, surrounded by sunlit, green lawns.
The Victoria Memorial School for the Blind (VMSB) is an institution dedicated to the education, training and empowerment of the visually impaired boys. The School offers blind boys a holistic education, a range of vocation-based and stimulating extra-curricular activities, boarding and lodging all free of cost.
Set up in 1902, The Victoria Memorial School for the Blind has been nurtured over the decades by some of India’s most eminent luminaries and is managed today by a board of dedicated and enlightened citizens.
To encourage, nurture and develop differently abled individuals; to empower them to take their place in the world as confident, productive adults.
